Japanese Swords| Forged Sword
These forged sword types fall into a
special catagory with a wide range of quality depending on what you are purchasing. It is always wise to do some
reaserch before purchasing any swords especialy if you plan to:
- Give it as a Gift to someone knowlagable of swords i.e a Sensei
- Use it for actual cutting such as tamishigiri the sport of cutting bamboo
mats
- For public demonstrations which require durability and
dependability
Handmade swords especially Japanese swords such as the Samurai sword can take from 6 month to a year or more to forge!
This is inpart due to the fact that many Japanese swords are made of a high quality carbon steel in which the
blade is folded over it'self countless times to ensure proper weight, balance, and density.
Even the shorter sword Wakazashi which was worn along with the Katana by the
samurai had to meet equal standards. The Wakazasshi proved useful for indoors combat and proved it's self as a
valuable side arm in battle when the Katana was damaged, broken, or disarmed. Although the Wakazashi had less
length and force per strike than a larger sword, it could be used to engage a target at a much faster acceleration
and velocity making this forged sword extremely efficient for tight situations!
